I am Brad Torch and I am running for Amarillo City Council, Place #3. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and lived there for 34 years, before moving to Queen Creek, AZ, and then here to Amarillo. I graduated Cum Laude from The University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a minor in Psychology. I worked as a guardian for elderly and mentally incapacitated adults for 7 years before becoming a mental health case manager. I have been married to my gorgeous wife, Heather, for 15 years and have 4 amazing children.
Amarillo is a great city, however I do not feel that current and past City Councils and Mayors have done their best to make Amarillo reach its full potential.
They have promised to listen; but instead have made it more difficult for you to voice your opinion.
They promised economic growth; yet wages continue to stagnate and few new businesses have come to Amarillo.
They promised to revitalized our old neighborhoods; they have only revitalized the downtown area, the area that matters to their own bank accounts.
I have a vision:
An Amarillo whose City Council listens to the concerns of its residents and is transparent and accountable to them as well.
An Amarillo dedicated to attracting new business without giving away the farm and just as dedicated to helping local business grow.
An Amarillo whose City Council members’ only interest is in the success and happiness of the residents and businesses who make Amarillo as amazing as it is.
An Amarillo that is not 5th in violent crime in the State of Texas.
An Amarillo where our pets matter enough to us, that our shelter can achieve a 99% live release rate.
An Amarillo whose poorer neighborhoods get just as much attention, if not more, as the wealthy neighborhoods.
